About Me

UNDER CONSTRUCTION!!

I am a mom of 4 grown kids who loves being active in the great outdoors. I strive to nourish my mind, body and spirit through great friends, good food, good exercise and some good wine on occasion. I have always taken pride in my great health. In many ways it defines my identity. That all changed December 2018 when I learned I had the highest grade of invasive ductal triple negative breast cancer.

Fighting cancer is a full-time job and I need all the support I can get. I am grateful for the friends and family that have stepped up.

I have decided that documenting my experience will help those in my life better understand what I am going through and how they can help. It will also save me from retelling the same story to all my friends and family. Instead you can all check in here.

I don’t only want this blog to be an avenue for keeping friends and family informed. Nor just a cathartic outlet to help me deal with my many emotions and random thoughts. I also want to share information that can educate and help others. I am curious by nature and interested in a great many topics related to health, so I figure this could be an opportunity to share what I have learned and continue to discover.

I love taking pictures. I took the photo on the header of this blog on a hike just outside of Banff, Alberta. That is Lake Minnewanka in the background for those who know the area. This was a solo human hike but I was accompanied by the family border collie, Loki, and my daredevil grand-puppy, Dakota. I say daredevil because she almost hurled herself off a cliff shortly after I took this photo. She literally did this……

This was my first hike with Dakota. I was terrified for her life! How would I ever tell my daughter, Steph, that I let her dog plunge to her death. She would have been devastated!!! When I got back from the hike and shared the story, Steph was very nonchalant “Yeah, she does that all the time. She is crazy!”
